it is really possible to optimally use the individual substances according to the degree of soiling of the clothing, the hardness of the water and the very individual need for the degree of whiteness of the laundry. Soft water is an absolute prerequisite for soap detergent. The modular principle creates the basis for being able to use the unsurpassed advantages of the soap even with harder water.

Origin and properties of the ingredients

The main active ingredient in Sonett detergent is soap, which is made from various vegetable oils – palm oil, rapeseed oil and coconut oil – by boiling with lye. The oils come from 100% organic or biodynamic cultivation. Soap, as a washing-active substance, uniquely combines all the properties of wetting, dissolving and carrying dirt that are necessary for the washing process. Soda is made by reacting lime with table salt. Metasilicate is formed by fusing quartz sand and soda. Soda and metasilicate both strengthen the suds due to their alkalinity and promote the removal of greasy substances in particular. Zeolite A and layered silicate both have silicate rocks as the starting raw material. In addition to their property of binding the limescale in the water, these substances also bind the organic substances and color pigments dissolved in the washing water and prevent them from settling on the laundry. Fatty alcohol sulphate, obtained from coconut oil, supports the soap in its fat-dissolving power.

Biodegradation

Soap made from vegetable oils has the outstanding feature compared to all other washing-active substances that immediately after use it combines with the lime that is always present in the waste water to form lime soap and thereby neutralizes its effect on living organisms (primary degradation). The lime soap is then 100% broken down by microorganisms into carbon dioxide and water (secondary breakdown). Coconut fatty alcohol sulphate from natural, renewable raw materials remains unchanged in its inner molecular structure during manufacture. It is therefore easily recognizable and degradable by the microorganisms in the wastewater and is thus quickly and completely reintegrated into the natural cycle. The remaining components of the detergent, soda, clay minerals and silicates, are mineral substances that do not have to be broken down further in nature. According to the OECD, soap and coconut oil alcohol sulphate are considered to be readily biodegradable.
