Origin and properties of the ingredients

Beef bile is one of the traditional stain removers whose main active ingredients, the bile acids cholic and taurocholic acid, finely disperse fats and fat-like substances, as well as dissolving and binding dyes. Soap made from rapeseed oil / sunflower oil and olive oil with lye swells and loosens dirt and supports the stain-removing power of cattle bile. Sugar surfactant is obtained from the purely plant-based raw materials sugar, starch and coconut oil through chemical reactions with the help of acids. Orange terpenes from orange peels also increase the fat-dissolving power of Sonett Gall Soap.

Biodegradation

Beef bile, as a pure natural product, is 100% biodegradable. Soap made from vegetable oils has the outstanding feature of combining with the always present lime in the waste water to form lime soap immediately after use. As a result, the surface-active effect that attacks aquatic life is neutralized within a few hours (primary degradation). The lime soap is then 100% broken down by microorganisms into carbon dioxide and water (secondary breakdown). During the manufacturing process of sugar surfactants, parts of starch, sugar and fat are removed from the vegetable raw materials, but their natural structure is completely retained. It is therefore relatively easy for the microorganisms to quickly and completely degrade these surfactants to 100%. According to the OECD, soap and sugar surfactants are considered to be easily biodegradable.
