Origin and properties of the ingredients

Beeswax and carnauba wax protect and care for all surfaces made of wood, cork, linoleum, stone etc. with a thin layer of wax. The organic carnauba wax is obtained from the leaves of the South American, palm-like carnauba bush. Beeswax is produced in beekeeping when the honey is spun out of the honeycomb.

The basis of this floor cleaning care is organic olive oil soap. Pure olive oil from controlled organic cultivation is made into soap with potassium hydroxide in a simple process, without external energy supply. Due to its slightly moisturizing properties, the olive oil soap supports the caring properties of the two wax components and is also excellent at cleaning.

Ethanol, obtained by fermenting vegetable starch or sugary by-products such as molasses, helps keep the soap liquid, allowing for a high concentration in the liquid product. In addition to its pleasantly refreshing scent, essential cajeput oil has a germ-inhibiting effect.

Biodegradation

Carnauba Wax and Beeswax are natural waxes that are biodegradable. Like all vegetable soaps, soap made from organic olive oil has the special feature compared to all other washing-active substances that immediately after use it combines with the lime that is always present in the waste water to form lime soap and thereby neutralizes itself in its surface-active effect on aquatic life (primary degradation). The lime soap is then quickly 100% broken down by microorganisms into carbon dioxide and water (secondary breakdown). During the manufacturing process of sugar surfactants, parts of starch, sugar and fat are removed from the vegetable raw materials, but their natural structure is completely retained. It is therefore relatively easy for the microorganisms to completely break down these surfactants by 100%. According to the OECD, soap and sugar surfactants are considered to be easily biodegradable.
